CANORA - The Canora Reds 13U baseball team attended a one day tournament in Sturgis on June 24 in conjunction with the Sturgis Sports & Rodeo, and came home with the B-side championship. In addition to the Reds, 13U ball teams from Sturgis, Norquay, Yorkton, Keeseekoose and Preeceville were in attendance.

Canora played against Sturgis in the first game and won, followed by a tie with Norquay, according to a report from the tournament. In other round robin play Norquay and Canora ended up tied, so they had to play an extra inning to decide who would advance to the A final. Norquay came out victorious by one run, which set up Canora in the B-final in a matchup versus Yorkton.

“The team showed a great effort and everyone came together to defeat Yorkton by a score of 10-7 for Canora to win the B Championship!” reported a team representative. “The 13U Reds would like to thank their coaches for a great season!”

The Reds were coached by Dayne Babchishin, aided by assistant coaches Darcy Rewakowsky and Corey Heshka.
