Canora junior boys dominate late, defeat Kamsack

Cougars win by 20 points in a game that was closer than the score indicated

CANORA - The Canora Composite School Cougars junior boys basketball team welcomed the archrival Kamsack Spartans to Canora for a spirited matchup on Feb. 1. The final score was 60-40 for the Cougars, but the game was tighter than the score indicated with numerous lead changes and shifts in momentum.

Cougars trailed early, but rallied to take a 15-9 lead after the first quarter. The second quarter belonged to the Spartans, who overtook Canora and assumed a 24-21 lead by halftime.

The Cougars essentially took over the game in the second half, outscoring the visitors 39-16. The Canora defense dominated the fourth quarter, holding the Spartans to only four points to put the finishing touches on the big win.
