CANORA — The Canora/Sturgis RCMP responded to 29 calls from Oct. 26 to Nov. 2, some of which included:
- one 911 Act call,
- one demonstration/protest,
- one Fire Prevention Act call,
- one identity fraud,
- one lost and found,
- three Mental Health Act calls,
- six mischiefs,
- five thefts,
- one traffic collision,
- eight traffic offenses,
- one wellbeing check and
- one prisoner.
Won’t stay away
On Nov. 1, the Canora/Sturgis RCMP responded to a disturbance complaint outside a residence in Canora. A man was located on scene and told to leave after he tried to get into his former residence. The man returned to the residence later in the day and again had to be warned to stay away.
Fake dating profile
The Canora/Sturgis RCMP investigated a report of identity fraud on Oct. 31. A fake online dating profile was created using the caller’s name and email address. It is a crime in Canada to fraudulently impersonate another person online to either gain advantage or to cause disadvantage to someone else.
Eggs-cessive
The Canora/Sturgis RCMP investigated a report on Oct. 31 that a vehicle parked outside a residence in Preeceville was egged on Halloween night. Police continue to investigate.
Ice cream theft
On Oct. 27, the Canora/Sturgis RCMP investigated a report that two women shoplifted ice cream from the Canora Co-op grocery store. Police are currently reviewing the store's video surveillance footage to identify the suspects.
Thief returns
The Canora/Sturgis RCMP charged a woman with theft on Oct. 25 after she was caught shoplifting from the Canora Co-op. On Oct. 27, the same woman returned to the store twice and stole again. Police located and arrested the female for theft under $5,000.
