CANORA — The Canora/Sturgis RCMP responded to 53 calls from June 19 to June 26, some of which included:
- two 911 Act calls,
- one abandoned vehicle,
- one assault,
- one breach of peace,
- three bylaw offences,
- one Child Welfare Act call,
- one dangerous driving,
- one disturbing the peace,
- one failure to comply with conditions,
- one fraud,
- one Mental Health Act call,
- two mischiefs,
- two other provincial calls,
- one roadside suspension,
- four suspicious persons,
- 21 traffic offences,
- two traffic collisions,
- one wellbeing check, and
- one prisoner.
Extreme speeder
On June 22, members of the Canora/Sturgis RCMP were running radar on Highway 9 near Amsterdam when a vehicle was clocked going 223 km/h. The vehicle was stopped and the driver was arrested for dangerous driving. The investigation is ongoing.
Camper stolen
The Canora/Sturgis investigated a report of a theft on June 21 in the RM of Buchanan. A turquoise coloured tear drop-style camper trailer was stolen. The trailer had an Alberta licence plate of 6EN625.
Bylaw enforcement reported
The Canora/Sturgis RCMP were dispatched to a report of property being removed from a yard in Canora on June 21. Investigation determined the property was lawfully removed by bylaw enforcement.
Double assault
The Canora/Sturgis RCMP were dispatched on June 21 to a disturbance complaint in Preeceville. Police investigated and learned a two people got into an argument and both assaulted each other. Police continue to investigate.
Tire slashed
On June 19, the Canora/Sturgis RCMP investigated a report of mischief. A tire was slashed on a vehicle in Canora. Police continue to investigate.
