CANORA — The Canora/Sturgis RCMP responded to 31 calls from February 10 to February 16, some of which included: three traffic accidents, one missing person, two break and enters, nine provincial traffic offences, eight other provincial statutes, two 911 Act situations, one theft, two harrassments, and three other incidents.

Country collision

On February 10, the Canora/Sturgis RCMP were dispatched to a complaint of a two vehicle collision on Highway No. 755.  Minor injuries were reported. Both vehicles involved were towed from the scene.

Mediation

The Canora/Sturgis RCMP received a complaint on February 11 from a male who reported being harassed by another male over unpaid debts. The complainant was provided advice and further police involvement was not required.

Broken curfew

The Canora/Sturgis RCMP attended a residence in Canora to check on a male who was on a court ordered curfew from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. on February 11. The male was found not to be home.  Police located the male the following day and he was charged with failing to comply with the conditions of his probation order.

Casual 911 call

On February 13, the Canora/Sturgis RCMP were dispatched to a complaint of a 911 hang up in the RM of Preeceville. Police followed up and determined a 4-year-old had called 911 to say “Hi.”

Medication theft

The Canora/Sturgis RCMP received a complaint on February 14 to investigate the theft of pain medication from a residence in Canora. Police continue to investigate.

Happy ending

The Canora/Sturgis RCMP received a complaint of a missing person in Canora on February 15.  The missing person returned home on their own and further police involvement was not required.

Misplaced suspicion

On February 15, the Canora/Sturgis RCMP received a complaint of a suspicious male in Preeceville who had walked into one residence and checked the door knobs on multiple other homes on the same block. Police were able to track the suspect to a nearby residence and determine that no crime was committed or was intended.

Bridge incident

The Canora/Sturgis RCMP received a complaint of a break and enter that occurred at a Bridge Construction Site on Highway No. 9 north of Canora on February 16. Property was damaged and tools were stolen.
