Canora/Sturgis RCMP activity report: Blame it on the trees

RCMP responded to a phone call from a complainant requesting police assistance involving the neighbour’s tree seeds blowing into their yard. The complainant was told his complaint was a civil issue.

The Canora/Sturgis RCMP responded to 43 calls from June 16 to June 23, including a complaint on Main Street in Canora involving a female causing a disturbance outside a business.

The Canora/Sturgis RCMP responded to 43 calls from June 16 to June 23, some of which included: one assault, two Child Welfare Act calls, seven mischiefs, two thefts, one Mental Health Act call, 10 traffic offences, two traffic collisions, one animal complaint, one missing person, one failure to comply with probation, one criminal harassment, and 11 other provincial calls.

Difficult customer

On June 16, the Canora/Sturgis RCMP were called to a complaint on Main Street in Canora involving a female causing a disturbance outside a business. Police located the female suspect at her residence and she was given a verbal warning about her behaviour.

Gas stolen

The Canora/Sturgis RCMP received a complaint on June 16 of gas being stolen from an auger in the RM of Good Lake. If you have any information about this incident, please contact the Canora RCMP Detachment, or you can also report anonymously via Saskatchewan Crime Stoppers.

Window mischief

The Canora/Sturgis RCMP were dispatched to a report of mischief to a window on a residence in the RM of Preeceville on June 16. Police continue to investigate.

Careful with needles

On June 17, the Canora/Sturgis RCMP received a complaint about a black bag containing needles in the ditch along Highway 229. With the assistance of Public Health, the needles were located and disposed of safely.

Blame it on the trees

The Canora/Sturgis RCMP received a phone call on June 18 from a complainant requesting police assistance with an ongoing issue involving the neighbour’s tree seeds blowing into their yard. The complainant was told his complaint was a civil issue.

Uninvited visitor

The Canora/Sturgis RCMP attended a report of an unwanted intoxicated person at a residence in Sturgis on June 18. Police attended and removed the male from the residence.

Happy ending

On June 19, the Canora/Sturgis RCMP received a complaint of a missing woman in Canora. The woman was later located at a friend’s house.

Young trouble

The Canora/Sturgis RCMP were dispatched on June 19 to a report of a break-and-enter to a residence and mischief to a shed in Canora. The suspects later returned to the same property and were detained by police. The suspects were found to be 12 years of age and younger. Due to the age of the youth, criminal charges were not laid.

Assault and arrest

The Canora/Sturgis RCMP received a report of an assault in Canora on June 20. Police interviewed the complainant and arrested a male suspect. The male was released on conditions for court in Canora.

Disturbing behaviour

On June 21, the Canora/Sturgis RCMP were dispatched to a complaint of an intoxicated female in Canora rolling around on the ground causing a disturbance. Police attended and arrested the female for breaching conditions of her undertaking. 

Lawn dispute

The Canora/Sturgis RCMP received a complaint on June 21 of grass clippings blowing onto the road from a neighbouring residence. Police followed up and determined no criminal offence occurred, and the complainant could follow up with their local municipality for any bylaw complaints.

Gas too expensive?

The Canora/Sturgis RCMP received a complaint of a gas-and-dash at a gas station in Canora on June 22. Police continue to investigate.
