Canora/Sturgis RCMP activity report: False report of dead body

Police received a report that a human body was hidden inside a Canora residence. Police investigated the complaint and determined there was no human body and the information was unreliable.

The Canora/Sturgis RCMP responded to 45 calls from Nov. 17 to Nov. 24, including a complaint a shed was broken into behind the Subway restaurant in Canora.

The Canora/Sturgis RCMP responded to 45 calls from Nov. 17 to Nov. 24, some of which included: four 911 Act calls, one assault, one break-and-enter, one Coroners Act call, one Child Family Act call, one disturbing the peace, one failure to comply with undertaking, two lost and found, one Mental Health Act call, one uttering threats, two suspicious persons calls, one theft, 23 traffic offences, one traffic collision, and four other provincial calls.

Search for stolen trailer

The Canora/Sturgis RCMP are looking for public assistance with locating a stolen trailer. Between Aug. 4 and Aug. 24, a home built tandem axle flat deck trailer was stolen from a rural property in the RM of Preeceville. The trailer was black in colour with stained wood decking. The deck is approximately 20 feet by eight feet in dimensions. What noises?

On Nov. 20, the Canora/Sturgis RCMP were dispatched to a report of a loud noises coming from a house in Canora. Police attended the residence and determined everything was fine and police were not required.

Residential disturbance

The Canora/Sturgis RCMP were dispatched on Nov. 20 to a disturbance complaint in Preeceville. Police attended and arrested an intoxicated male inside the residence for mischief and assault.

It can happen to anyone

A member of the Canora/Sturgis RCMP struck a deer with a police vehicle on Highway No. 9 south of Canora on Nov. 20. Please remember to slow down and stay alert as wild life activity increases at this time of year.

Bogus dead body report

On Nov. 21, the Canora/Sturgis RCMP received a report that a human body was hidden inside a residence in Canora. Police investigated the complaint and determined there was no human body and the information was unreliable.

Shed break-in

The Canora/Sturgis RCMP investigated a complaint on Nov. 22 that a shed was broken into behind the Subway restaurant in Canora. Police are looking for assistance from the public in solving this case.
