Jerry Danyluk, beloved husband of Millie Danyluk of Canora, passed away at the Canora Hospital on August 3, 2015, at the age of 66 years. Jerry was born on January 3, 1949 in Canora, SK to Steve and Evelyn (Maier) Danyluk. He grew up on the family farm in the Hyas District, SK and attended Hyas and Sturgis schools. After graduation, Jerry worked at Melvin鈥檚 Paint Centre in Canora, prior to his relocation to Kitchener, ON, where he gained employment at the BF
Goodrich factory. In 1970, while still in Kitchener, he met Millie Park. They returned to Canora in 1973 and married that year. Jerry and Millie were blessed with two sons, Bryce in 1976 and Jarett in 1979. Jerry once again went to work for Melvin鈥檚 Paint Centre until 1985.
He then accepted a position as a maintenance mechanic at the Canora Hospital, where he continued to work until he retired in 2009. Jerry and Millie really enjoyed winter vacations to Puerto Vallarta. They preferred to experience Mexico 鈥渙ff the beaten path鈥 and spend time with locals they had grown to know. Jerry was a volunteer fireman within the Canora Fire Department from 19801995.
He also served on the Canora Golf Course executive. Having had numerous hobbies and interests, Jerry loved bowling, playing broomball, fastball, hockey and golf. He treasured time spent fishing while at the family cabin. He also loved hunting, the outdoors, and playing cards with friends and family.
Family was everything to Jerry and he is deeply loved and will be dearly missed. Jerry was predeceased by his father, Steve, on September 7, 1997 and his mother, Evelyn, on March 8, 2015. He is survived by his wife, Millie; sons: Bryce (Debi) and Jarett (Andrea); brothers: Garold (Josie), Robert (Delores), and Bruce; sister, Bonnie (Lawrence) Rokosh; and his grandchildren: Jack, Felix, Jaxon, and Aubrey; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
A Visitation was held on Friday, August 7, 2015 from 7:008:30 pm and Funeral Services on Saturday, August 8, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. both from the Chapel of Leson鈥檚 Funeral Home, Canora. Interment followed in the Canora Cemetery. Those wishing to make expressions of sympathy may make donations to the Saskatchewan Wildlife Federation, Canora Branch or to the Canora Hospital Ladies Auxiliary, as tokens of remembrance, in memory of Jerry Danyluk.
