Older and younger Canora students share joy of books

Students from Canora Composite School read to their younger buddies from Canora Junior Elementary School during Buddy Reading on Oct. 21, part of Education Week activities.

CANORA - As part of Education Week in Canora, on Oct. 21 Canora Composite School students from grades 5 – 7 made the walk over to Canora Junior Elementary School to take part in Buddy Reading with the CJES students. The younger students were paired with a big buddy from CCS who read to them from a book chosen by the little buddies. The two schools have participated in this activity for over 10 years, and students from both schools have indicated they looked forward to it according to teachers from both schools.

Later in the winter, CCS is planning to invite CJES students to their school for cookies, hot chocolate, and Christmas reading involving the students in the older grades at CCS.
