Canora/Sturgis RCMP activity report

Late January RCMP calls included a stolen snowmobile and multiple complaints of residents blowing snow into the yards of their neighbours.

From January 20 to 27 Canora RCMP responded to everything from a stolen snowmobile, to residents having snow blown into their yards, to a stolen auger motor. / Canora Courier

The Canora/Sturgis RCMP responded to 29 calls from January 20 to January 27, some of which included: one traffic accident, two threats, seven provincial traffic offences, five other provincial statutes, one 911 Act incident, one missing person, three thefts, two mischiefs, one Fire Prevention Act incident, and six other occurrences.

Converter stolen

On January 21, the Canora/Sturgis RCMP received a complaint of a catalytic converter being cut off and removed from the exhaust system of a truck in Canora. 

Auger motor theft

The Canora/Sturgis RCMP received a complaint on January 21 of a theft of an auger motor in the RM of Buchanan. If you have any information about this incident, please contact the Canora RCMP or you can also report anonymously via Saskatchewan Crime Stoppers.

Snow blowing no-no

The Canora/Sturgis RCMP were dispatched to a mischief complaint in Canora on January 23. The complainant reported his neighbour was blowing snow into his yard. Police assisted the Canora Bylaw Enforcement officer with educating the neighbour on the do’s and don’ts of snow removal and how to be a good neighbour.

More snow problems

On January 23, the Canora/Sturgis RCMP received a call in Preeceville of a neighbour blowing snow onto the complainant’s yard. Police attended and assisted with mediating the complaint.

Snowmobile theft

The Canora/Sturgis RCMP received a complaint on January 23 of a stolen snowmobile from Sandy Beach. The owner recovered the snowmobile on the Tiny Grid. Police continue to investigate.

Medical emergency

The Canora/Sturgis RCMP assisted Canora EMS and the Canora Fire Department with a medical call at a residence in Canora on January 25.

Bold dogs

The Canora/Sturgis RCMP were dispatched to a complaint on January 25 of aggressive dogs straying onto private property in the RM of Buchanan. Police attended the call and are working with the complainant to resolve the dog problem.

All’s well that ends well

On January 25, the Canora/Sturgis RCMP were dispatched to complaint of a missing male from the Canora area. Police learned the male took the complainant’s vehicle and took off. The male eventually returned home on his own accord and further police assistance was not required.
