KAMSACK - The U13 Parkland Predators, made up of players from Preeceville, Canora, Norquay, Kamsack, Churchbridge and Langenburg, opened their quest for a provincial championship on the right foot with an impressive 11-5 win over the Wynyard Monarchs in Kamsack on Feb. 7.
The Preds got off to a strong start, racing out to a 4-0 lead after the first period.
The visitors got on the scoreboard in the second, but the Preds still held a 10-4 lead after 40 minutes.
The goal scoring slowed down in the final period, with each team adding just one more to their total before the final whistle.
Dillon Serdachny of Preeceville, and Kaiden Croswell and Jack Rapchalk of Churchbridge led the goal scoring parade with a pair each, with Rapchalk adding two assists. Bryden Leis of Kamsack scored a goal and was the top playmaker with three assists. Other goals came from the sticks of Angel Sliva and Kenzee Kopelchuk of Canora, and Ben Halkyard and Landon Erickson of Preeceville. Easton Will of Preeceville and Brodie Hunter of Kamsack helped out in the playmaking department with a pair of assists each.
The next game in the series is on Sat. Feb. 15 in Wynyard.
