Shannon Leson, GSSD local trustee, congratulated the Canora Composite School and Invermay School graduating classes of 2023, and wished them much success as they head into a wide-open future.

CANORA - As a trustee of the Good Spirit School Division, Shannon Leson addressed the Canora Composite School graduates and the Invermay School graduates at their respective ceremonies in Canora and later in the day in Invermay on June 29.

“Today, we celebrate your achievement and the beginning of a new journey filled with limitless opportunities,” said Leson. “As the motto of CCS states, ‘Learning Today for Success Tomorrow,’ your hard work, dedication, and perseverance have brought you to this moment. You have gained knowledge, developed new skills, and built lasting relationships that will serve as a foundation for your future success,” he said to the Canora grads, and to the Invermay graduates, “Invermay School has lived up to its motto, ‘Inspiring a Passion for Knowledge,’ by nurturing each one of you to develop a deep love for learning. As you leave the nest of the beloved Eagles, remember the values and lessons instilled in you by this remarkable school.”

Leson told the graduates "The vision of the Good Spirit School Division is ‘Learning Without Limits ... Achievement for All,’ and you embody this vision. Your achievements are a testament to the division's commitment to providing quality education and a supportive environment for its students.

“The Good Spirit School Division's mission, ‘Building Strong Foundations to Create Bright Futures,’ is embodied in each of you, as you step into the world equipped with the skills and knowledge necessary to create a positive impact in your communities. This journey has been a collaborative effort, and I would like to take this opportunity to express our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has played a role in your development.

“To the parents, families, staff, and community, I express my gratitude for your unwavering support of these remarkable graduates. Your unwavering support, love, and guidance have been instrumental in shaping these young minds.

“To the dedicated teachers and staff, thank you for your tireless commitment to cultivating a passion for knowledge in these fine students. You have nurtured their intellectual curiosity and encouraged them to grow and excel in every possible way.”

Leson also extended his gratitude to the communities of Canora and Invermay. “Your involvement and investment in this school and its students have contributed immensely to the success and growth of these young adults.

“Graduates, as you embark on the next chapter of your lives, always remember that your roots are firmly planted in this community. The values and lessons you've learned will serve as your guiding light in the world outside. As the American author and humorist, Garrison Keillor, once said, ‘Nothing you do for children is ever wasted.’ Every experience, every challenge, and every triumph has shaped you into the individuals you are today.

‘As you embark on your next chapter, remember that success is not final, failure is not fatal; it is the courage to continue that counts. I leave you with this inspiring quote from Nelson Mandela, ‘Education is the most powerful weapon you can use to change the world.’

“Congratulations to the graduates of Canora Composite School, home of the Cougars, and to Invermay School graduates, as you spread your wings and soar to new heights, may you always carry with you the spirit of the Eagles.”

“You have made us proud, and we look forward to seeing the remarkable things you will accomplish in the years ahead,” said Leson. “May your futures be filled with success, happiness, and a lifelong passion for knowledge.”
