Valentine’s Tea hospitality spreads warmth on bitterly cold day

A heart-warming crowd of over 60 people attended St Joseph’s Roman Catholic Service Group’s annual Valentine’s Tea and Bake Sale on Feb. 15, in spite of bitterly cold temperatures outside.

CANORA - Despite the bitter cold with temperatures down around -30°C on Feb. 15, a heart-warming crowd of over 60 people attended St Joseph’s Roman Catholic Service Group’s annual Valentine’s Tea and Bake Sale.

Continuing the legacy of the former St Joseph’s CWL; tea, coffee, finger sandwiches and dainties were served. Tables were tastefully decorated for Valentine’s Day and set with China teacups.

In keeping with tradition, St Joseph’s parishioners filled several tables with bake sale items boasting everything from sweet buns, squares, pies, loaves, cakes and cookies to sourdough bread, pumpernickel and whole wheat bread, jams and canned veggies.

Among the big favorites were the bucket draw and door prizes that generated great enthusiasm as the numbers were drawn and prizes distributed. All in all, it was a great success! The organizers wish to extend a hearty thank you to all who came out to support the event and deep gratitude to all who volunteered to prepare, decorate, serve and clean up.
