KAMSACK — A Community Christmas Concert, much like the ones that were held several years ago at the Kamsack Playhouse, featuring groups and individuals singing, dancing and having a great time spreading Yuletide cheer, is being planned for Dec. 18.
“We’ve been wanting to hold such a concert for the past couple of years, but of course, COVID-19 messed with those ideas,” said Karen Tourangeau, an organizer of the event.
Although having started to distribute information only a couple days ago, Tourangeau said that she’s already heard from one woman who would like to sing, and possibly her daughter, and Ukrainian dancers have expressed a desire to perform.
Persons wishing to be added to the program are asked to contact Tourangeau at 306-542-9332 by Dec. 6.
During an intermission, coffee, hot chocolate and cookies will be available at no charge, thanks to a couple Kamsack businesses which have agreed to donate the beverages and treats, she said.
During the last hour of the concert, after the whole theatre is involved in a sing-song concluding with Here Comes Santa Claus, Santa himself will be making his first and only public visit to the community, she said. Santa will be handing out treat bags courtesy of the Playhouse committee.
“Santa will be available for photos with children, but parents and guardians are advised to bring their own cameras if they wish photos taken,” she said.
The event will include draws for door prizes, and admittance will be with a silver collection at the door.
