Dirty Dancers named winners of slo-pitch playoffs

The Canora Slo-pitch League held playoffs on August 27 to end the season. Three teams, the Dirty Dancers, Balls and Dolls, and Chives participated. The tournament was set as a round robin competition.

            The Canora Slo-pitch League held playoffs on August 27 to end the season. Three teams, the Dirty Dancers, Balls and Dolls, and Chives participated.

            The tournament was set as a round robin competition. Each team played against one another, and the one with the best round robin record proceeded to the finals. Balls and Dolls had the highest record, and was guaranteed a spot in the final game.

            The two remaining teams, Dirty Dancers and Chive, played against each other in a semi-final game. When the Dirty Dancers won, the team was slated against Balls and Dolls in the final game.

            The Dirty Dancers won the final game and the tournament for the Canora Slo-pitch League and became the champions for the second year in a row. 

            Dirty Dancers was coached by Kerry Fullawka and included players Nik Dmitruik, Dwight Dul, Nathan Dutchak, Sabrina Fullawka, Matthew Hrynkiw, Cil Lamb, Graham Lamb, Clayton Malanowich, Wasyl Olynyk, Ally Rock, Will Smith, Tracy Thomas, Kenny Topliss and Kris VanSanvoord.

            James Trofimenkoff, president of the Canora Slo-pitch League, and Devon Sawka, the vice-president, congratulated the teams on another successful year.
