PREECEVILLE - Ketchen Lake Bible Camp campers enjoyed a great successful season at the lake. There wee 178 campers who took advantage of the summer camps.
“It was so great to see so many campers of all ages join us this summer,” said Elaine Brewer, Camp Director. “We hosted a full season of camping. The weather also cooperated with us which was great.”
The Camp offered both overnight and day camps. The overnight camps were available for teens, junior teens, intermediate, and squirt camp,
“Camps started off on July 3 and ended Aug. 20 for campers aged six years old to 18 years old. The family fun day encouraged everyone to come out to have some fun games and activities with the campers,” said Brewer.
"This was an exciting time for campers and volunteers," continued Brewer. “Through the summer we usually do not have time for major projects but we did get to redo the picnic tables. For next year, we are hoping to add another cabin and keep on adding to the playground equipment that we added this year. Also next year, we will be starting camp one week later as we would like to offer a week of staff training to get them prepared for the summer of camping.”
The last camp of the season will be a Youth Retreat that is usually held in the fall and after the camp closes for the season. This year we hosted it at the Ketchen Lake Bible Camp location on Sept. 16.
“As camp concluded for another season we are looking forward to next year with our spring banquet and hamburger barbecue sales. We are always looking at fundraiser ideas as the costs for operating the camp are always increasing and we try to keep camp fees low so everyone can afford to send their children to camp. We have never turned away a child who wanted to attend camp,” said Elaine Brewer.
The camp was founded in 1941 and its mission is to help families, especially youth and children, by leading them in a week of fellowship in a Christian setting.
Ketchen Lake Bible Camp supporting churches include: Endeavour Fellowship Chapel, Gateway Community Church (Canora), Hyas Baptist Church, Living Waters Christian Fellowship (Hazel Dell), Pelly Fellowship Chapel, Pineridge Fellowship Chapel (Hudson Bay), Preeceville Evangel Tabernacle and Weekes Evangelical Chapel.
