Massive parade honours graduating Outlook class

Events become popular in wake of pandemic shifting typical grad ceremonies

For a very large turnout of people, evidently the first official day of summer was best spent taking part in a parade in Outlook last weekend.

On Saturday, June 20, a seemingly endless stream of people came out for a community parade, driving a litany of cars, trucks, classic autos, a mini bus, an RV, a limousine, a semi, a golf cart with attached wagons, and even a handful of people sitting in a boat to honour the Outlook High School graduating class of 2020.  Vehicles were decorated, participants waved custom-made signs, and all the attention certainly had to make the 41 graduates feel like a million bucks.

The parade was an alternative event held to honour the students, one of several similar events held recently in the wake of the COVID pandemic that had shuttered all previous plans for graduation events.

The Grade 12 class couldn’t have looked better for the community celebration, all of them dressed in their evening best like as if the celebration was never altered at all.  The students were positioned on both sides of Franklin Street in front of the school, allowing parade participants to drive up and down to wish them all well in their future endeavors.

Following the hour-long parade, the class sat up on some bleacher seating that had been loaded onto a flatbed trailer and posed for photos before being driven around Outlook themselves, the OHS Class of 2020 being shown off in style for all residents to see.

Congratulations to the graduating class of Outlook High School: Taylor Ahrends-Burton, Mitch Brenner, Logan Darche, Camdyn Dawe, Tyson Dawe, Jayda Dillin, Christella Downer, Levi Ebbert, Kate Fletcher, Nitasha Gibson, Courtney Haapala, Brendan Halonen, Kendra Harrington, Karsen Harvey, Rachel Hedger, Teegan Hettrick, Emma Ingell, Madi Lockwood, Madelyn Maier, Mackenzie McLeod, Asmeret Measho, Ethan Murray, Alec Nieman, Micah Parkman, Kennedy Pederson, Caleb Procknow, Anjana Shaji, Chad Simonson, Clark Simonson, Laura Simonson, Reed Simonson, Ross Simonson, Samantha Simonson, Sarah Simonson, Jadan Tulp, Joshua Verwimp, Andrew Warwaruk, Shania Warwaruk, Amy Ylioja, Brody Ylioja, and Kaleb Ylioja.
