SASKATOON - The New Democrats look poised to hold on to Saskatoon Meewasin in today's byelection.
With 84 per cent (45 of 53 polls) of the vote in, Nathaniel Teed of the NDP has 1214 votes for 55.3 per cent compared to 817 or 37.2 per cent for Kim Groff of the Saskatchewan Party. A distant third is Jeff Walters of the Liberals with 67 or 3.1 per cent, Mark Friesen of the Buffalo Party with 60 or 2.7 per cent, and Jacklin Andrews of the Green Party last with 33 votes or 1.5 per cent.
Should Teed win, he will take over the seat held by former NDP leader Ryan Meili who resigned this spring.
