Air traffic will be officially grounded for good at the Outlook Airport by the end of this year following a recent decision by local officials.
Outlook’s town council elected to close the longstanding facility following in-camera discussions at their February 12 regular meeting. The Town is set to notify the owners of the hangars that they will need to be removed, while the airport itself will permanently close on December 31, 2020.
Huguette Lutz, the Town’s chief administrative officer, noted that the airport is located on town-owned land, and also told The Outlook that Council reached the decision after considerable discussion, sharing that the two main reasons for closing the airport are addressing drainage issues and land development in the area.
