SASKATOON — A combined effort from the Saskatoon Police Service’s Canine Unit, Air Support Unit and SPS patrol officers, has led to the arrest of a man who attempted to evade police.
On Feb. 11 at approximately 12:30 a.m., police spotted a pick-up truck they confirmed to have recently been stolen. Officers tried to pull the vehicle over near the intersection of 11th Street West and Fairlight Drive, but the driver began to flee from police at high speeds.
Soon after, the Air Support Unit was able to track the vehicle, and followed it outside of the city. ASU notified the Corman Park Police Service, who were successful in deploying a tire deflation device near Highway 60 and Township Road 354.
SPS patrol and canine officers attended to the area where the lone driver of the vehicle had fled on foot. The Canine Unit was able to track and arrest a 35-year-old man.
The 35-year-old man is charged with possession of stolen property over $5,000, dangerous driving, evading police, operation of a vehicle while prohibited, and possession of ammunition while prohibited.
