Musician, adventurer, educator and content creator Felipe Gomez has been announced as the 2021 Saskatchewanderer.

"Even during a challenging time, it's a dream come true to be the 2021 Saskatchewanderer," 2021 Saskatchewanderer Felipe Gomez said. "My engine is primed and once it's safe to do so again, I will be pumped to explore every corner of Saskatchewan, experiencing all this province has to offer. Through the tapestry of digital storytelling, I can't wait to showcase the diversity of Saskatchewan's fascinating and innovative people and places that made me fall in love with this beautiful province I am so proud to call my home!"

Felipe is taking on the Saskatchewanderer role as his personal mission to inspire others to safely explore Saskatchewan, experience the outdoors and embrace the province's wide diversity of businesses, art, cultures, landscapes and wildlife. Felipe will find ways to safely showcase Saskatchewan during the next 12 months as the 2021 Saskatchewanderer, with his term ending in March 2022.

The Saskatchewanderer program is a joint initiative between the Ministry of Parks, Culture and Sport and Tourism Saskatchewan.

"The Saskatchewanderer program is no exception to the unprecedented challenges that occurred throughout 2020 and now in 2021," Parks, Culture and Sport Minister Laura Ross said. "It will be great to see how Felipe navigates safely in our province and shines a new light on what we have in our backyard. We look forward to seeing his skills highlight the great people, businesses and places of Saskatchewan."

"Felipe Gomez brings an impressive range of talents and a fresh perspective, as a new Canadian, to the role of Saskatchewanderer," Minister Responsible for Tourism Saskatchewan Jeremy Harrison said. "Reaching more than 116,000 followers on social media, the program is one of the most efficient ways of influencing people to discover Saskatchewan's year-round travel offerings."

The Saskatchewanderer program welcomes back title sponsor Conexus Credit Union and official vehicle sponsor CAA Saskatchewan.

"We're proud to return as the title sponsor of the Saskatchewanderer Program, and welcome Felipe to the team," Conexus Credit Union VP of Member and Community Engagement Nicole Westerlund said. "As a local Saskatchewan credit union, we know how great Saskatchewan is, from the people who live here to the unique businesses and a fast-growing tech ecosystem. We look forward to wandering together throughout the province, as Felipe shares our province's diverse stories, and shows why Saskatchewan is the place to be."

"As official vehicle sponsor, CAA Saskatchewan is pleased and proud to be along for the ride with the 2021 Saskatchewanderer," CAA Saskatchewan President and CEO Fred Titanich said. "We know this year is definitely the time to explore and experience all that Saskatchewan has to offer with fantastic parks, tourist attractions, lakes, hiking trails, unique communities and more. The Wanderer, just like our valued 179,000 members, can trust CAA to help with all his travel, insurance, automotive, membership and safety needs."
