OUTLOOK - On Election Night in Canada, things ended virtually the same as it has in the last few times that Canadians were called to the polls.
On Monday night, April 28, after Canadians cast their ballots in a number of advance polls and on the day of, it was declared that the Liberal Party had won not long after the polls had closed.
By 8:50 pm, a minority government for the Mark Carney-led party had been called by CTV media outlets, something that Carney did not want in the wake of poor relations with the United States and, specifically, President Donald Trump.
At the local level, Conservative names from around the region remained in their positions, being re-elected by voters.
In Moose Jaw-Lake Centre-Lanigan, which includes the town of Outlook and a number of local communities on the east side of the South Saskatchewan River, Conservative Fraser Tolmie kept his title as MP with a reach of 25,729 votes at the time of this report, outreaching his opponents by far.
In Swift Current-Grasslands-Kindersley, which includes a number of communities on the west side of the river including Conquest, Macrorie, Dinsmore and Milden, the Conservatives' Jeremy Patzer was re-elected to his seat with 28,152 votes at the time of this report and far ahead of his opponents.
In the riding of Saskatoon-University, the Conservatives' Corey Tochor, the incumbent, saw himself in a close race with the Liberals' Greg Poelzer before a win for Tochor was called at just past 10:30 pm with 17,286 votes.
