MACRORIE - A meeting being held next week could mean the end of the road for longtime Co-op locations in the communities of Conquest and Macrorie.

A bulletin posted to social media on Friday night, April 11 spread like wildfire and gave notice to the members of the Macrorie and District Co-operative Association and made them aware that a special general meeting has been called where the Board of Directors will bring forward a resolution to dissolve and liquidate the Association.

The Association includes Co-op locations in both Macrorie and Conquest.

At the meeting, the current and projected financial state of the Association will be presented and there is also set to be a period of questions and discussion. Following this, a vote to authorize the dissolution of the Association will then be held.

In the context of business and finance, 'dissolve' refers to the process of legally terminating a company or business entity, while 'liquidate' involves selling off a company's assets to pay off debts and liabilities. 'Dissolution' marks the end of a company's legal existence.

The meeting is set for Wednesday night, April 23 at 7:30 pm at the Macrorie Hall.
