Get ready to celebrate Christmas with Equinox Theatre.

It will be a festival of all things related to the holidays when Equinox Theatre opens the doors on a brand new event called “A Celebration of Christmas”.

Running 6-9 pm on the evenings of December 15-17 in the Outlook Civic Centre, the public will be invited to a walk-thru of Christmas themed areas that will put everyone in the holiday spirit. Justin Turton, Equinox treasurer said, “Christmas is such a wonderful time of year and there were some within Equinox Theatre that wanted to celebrate the season in a unique way.”

Talented and creative people within the group who have an eye and interest in decorating and design, will be putting together a celebration of all kinds of Christmas elements from tinsel to trees to toys. Equinox member Shelley Luedtke explained, “We don’t want to give away all our secrets, but we really think we will have something for everyone. Whether you are intrigued by candy canes or traditions around the world, we are celebrating it all.”

The Civic Centre will be set up in such a way that people will walk through different areas at their own pace taking in the various holiday displays and themes. “We are inviting people to come and discover surprises around each corner,” Luedtke said, “and just enjoy all things Christmas.”

In addition to decorations and lights, costumed characters will also be part of the fun along with many opportunities for great family photos. There will also be a display of wreaths made by Equinox members and people from the community that will be offered as part of a silent auction, with all funds helping build up resources for upcoming productions.

Turton said this is something the whole family will enjoy. “We wanted to have an event that is for all ages that could involve individuals, groups and businesses. It is our hope that this celebration of Christmas event will further highlight the creativity and abundance of talent many of our friends and neighbors living in and around our community have.”

No tickets are needed for “A Celebration of Christmas”. Admission will be by freewill donation. “There are special things to do in our community in December,” Luedtke remarked, “and we just wanted to add to the arts and culture scene here with a totally unique event that we hope will add to everyone’s celebration of Christmas.”
