OUTLOOK - A former Outlook and area student is making waves in volleyball out in British Columbia, being recognized as one of the standout athletes of the week recently.
KeAndre Evans, in his third year as an outside hitter for the College of the Rockies Avalanche team in Cranbrook, was recognized by the squad as the Male Athlete of the Week.
The Pacific Western Athletic Association, known as PACWEST, noted the following highlights that helped Evans attain the standout accomplishment:
"On Friday night, January 21, Evans put up 12 kills, had a pair of aces, a block and a dig to help lead the Avs to their home opener victory; a sweep over the Camosun Chargers. Then on Saturday he picked up right where he left off with 14 more kills, three aces, two blocks and five digs in a five set battle where the Avs just fell just short. On average, he put up 3.25 kills, 0.63 aces, 0.38 blocks and 4.25 total offence in each set which will put him in the top five of each stat category in the Conference."
The 6'5" Evans, originally from Conquest and enrolled in the college's Criminal and Social Justice program, signed with COTR in February of last year after playing for two seasons with the Medicine Hat Rattlers.
