OUTLOOK - The LCBI Bisons were pumped and ready for their football home opener late last week when they hosted the Hafford Vikings on Thursday afternoon, September 26.
However, as much as the team tried, their offense and defense just weren't a match for the visiting Vikings, who evidently had come to Outlook to win in a decisive manner.
The first quarter saw Hafford get on the board with a touchdown at 9:51 (convert good) made by #7 Gabe King, who would go on to grab a sturdy handful of points in the duration of this game. Not to be shaken at the beginning of this battle, LCBI #33 Aiden Tran made a good run on the return afterward, but King would go on to nab his second touchdown not long afterward, with a good convert. Tran responded in kind after that with another great run downfield, but once again, King nabbed another TD with a good convert, moving further ahead on the scoreboard. As if to send a message to the hosting Bisons, King ended the quarter with another touchdown, though the convert was no good this time.
The second quarter was where LCBI showed signs of making a comeback, with #7 Tran once again making a good dash down the field at the 9:00 mark, and this time, it led immediately to Bisons #24 Nash Dolan making a touchdown for the home team, although the convert attempt was no good. As if in direct response, the Vikings once again moved up the board with a touchdown by #21 Keegan Barnstable on a long run downfield, with the convert being good. Hafford kept the momentum as #81 Jessie Androsoff nabbed a touchdown for his team at 4:03, convert being good. Bisons #7 Tran responded with another solid run afterward, but it wasn't enough for LCBI to pick up any momentum as Hafford got on the board again in the last minute of the first half with another touchdown made by #7 King on a good catch and run, convert being good.
The third quarter of the game saw the action slow down a bit as both teams looked to continue forging ahead, but the end result was a locking of the horns that remained until the time ran out.
Things picked up a bit in the fourth, and when they did, it was in favor of the Bisons as #7 Tran made a great catch and a solid run to kick things off, which was followed by LCBI getting back on the scoreboard with a touchdown, although the convert was no good. After that, the action in this game once again slowed down until the final minutes, ultimately running out and signalling a victory for the visiting Vikings, who returned to Hafford with the win at a score of 54-12.
The game saw one injury for LCBI when #32 Julian Senek went down with what turned out to be a right foot sprain.
