LCBI events keep people entertained in Outlook

Trade show, play, and choir performance entertain spectators.

OUTLOOK - Many people in Outlook and area made no other plans on Sunday, December 18 because they had one destination in mind for the day - LCBI High School. Three events on the school schedule kept people busy and entertained throughout the day.

It kicked off at 11:00 with a trade show held in the cafeteria beside the student chapel, with lunch proceeds benefitting the Mexico Mission Team. A group of students and staff will be traveling and serving in Mexico for a week in February, serving at an orphanage called Hogar Para Ninos, Foundation for His Ministry, which is located in Colonial Vincente Guerrero along the Baja Peninsula.

From there, by the time 1:00 rolled around, the chapel was filling up with people who were eager to check out the latest production by LCBI's drama performers. The chosen play was perhaps the perfect one to host, seeing how Christmas is only a few days away. 'It's a Wonderful Life - A Radio Play' saw a boisterous group of players take to the stage, standing in front of a line of 1940's microphones dressed in attire fit for the times, giving the audience a little something extra.

Directed by Jennifer Ridgewell and Joanie Olson, the play featured a number of standout performances by select cast members, although it was hard not to notice that everyone on the stage was having fun in their roles. The cast included Trason Ridgewell as George Bailey, a lead performance that Ridgewell was more than prepared for. He was joined by Birgitte Friggstad as Mary, Jeremy Flath as Peter/Harry/Announcer, Aidan Tran as Billy/Janie, Caleb Alford as a scene stealing Mr. Potter, as well as taking on the roles of Sam, Mr. Welsh, Clarence the angel, and Gower. As well, the performance featured Jarven Olson as Joseph/Martini, Abby Calvin as Violet/Mr. Thompson/Mrs. Hatch/Bridgekeeper/Dr. Campbell, Robyn Perraul as Bert/Matilda/Pete/Ed/Nick, Faith Collins as Rose/Ernie/Ruth/Tommy/Binky, Angel Sodhi as Old Man Collins/Mrs. Thompson/Zuzu/Cop, and Lana Knutson served as the stage manager.

Finally, LCBI's Christmas concert played to a packed chapel, filled with people who were eager to hear all the holiday hits. And hear them they did, with sopranos, tenors, basses, altos, the men's chorus of Outlook, as well as a jazz band and handbell choir delivering what people were hoping to see, including Lovely Child, Holy Child, Sing Gently, He Is Born, Avenue Swing, Joy to the World, Go Tell It on the Mountain, and We Wish You a Merry Christmas.

This trio of events at LCBI kept people busy, but it also helped get people excited for the holiday season.
