OUTLOOK - An event designed to show off what the town of Outlook has to offer people had a rotating guest list last week.
An open house held at the Outlook Civic Centre on Wednesday, November 30 welcomed people to come and go through the exhibit, with some of them visiting several to engage in conversations about community programming or business ventures.
When people weren't learning more about local businesses and organizations, they were getting caught up on current projects that are in the works, such as the expansion of the Small Steps Early Learning Centre. The daycare facility has preliminary drawings that are ready and at the moment, the staff are waiting on engineered drawings and their annual audit in order to ensure that the project is feasible before it enters the tendering stage. With some funding acquired, the facility now has approximately 25% of the cost needed to expand, with the remainder of the funds set to come from bank loans and fundraising initiatives.
Elsewhere in the Civic Centre, people could pop over to the booth manned by Kaitlyn Gifford of the Outlook & District Regional Park to learn everything going on down there, such as the upcoming Winter Wonderland drive-thru Christmas exhibit from December 14-23. As well, visitors were asked to fill out a brief survey asking what they saw for the future of the park, including options for possible recreational activities and attractions.
The Town of Outlook was well represented, including vital staff members being on hand to discuss with people the work that they do on a daily basis. As well, people could read and learn more about some of the things that keep Outlook operational, such as water treatment and distribution procedures, as well as the work being carried out by the Parks & Recreation department to ensure that people keep interested in what's going on in their community.
With other booths such as Associated Engineering, Equinox Theatre, Wheatland Regional Library, Outlook Amateur Sports, and the Royal Canadian Legion offering information, the open house proved to be an event that kept people informed of what's going on in their community.
