SASKATOON - As it stands, Outlook rock band Bad Influence seems to be having just that, an influence over the judges in The Roxy Music Hall's Band Wars competition.
On Thursday night, April 13, the quartet once again took to the stage at the Saskatoon venue and brought the house down with a thunderous, electric set, with the audience comprised of many people from the riverside community who came up to loudly support the band.
This being the second round in the competition, eight out of the ten bands that performed overall would move on to Round Three, and it was announced that two bands from both the April 6th and 13th events would have their fates known before everyone left the building that night.
Appearing onstage alongside four other groups comprised of Lara Tallion, the Crosby Harle Band, November Down, and Old Tolerated, the Outlook rockers made the stage their own and gave the audience a thrilling set that garnered raucous applause when it wrapped up, perhaps all too soon from the fans in the venue. Still, the loud applause may have been all the affirmation the group needed to answer the question of how well the show had come off.
With audience reaction making up for 25% of each band's scoring in the competition, Bad Influence having such a vocal crowd of supporters certainly seemed to work in their favor.
After some discussion by the judges, it was announced that two bands from each night of performances would be revealed right then and there, with the rest of the bands to be announced on The Roxy's Facebook page. With that, it was said that Deadtour and Dead Levee from the April 6 performances were advancing to Round Three, and from this night on April 13, Lara Tallion and, indeed, Bad Influence were moving on to the competition's third round.
Loud cheers broke out in the venue when it was announced that the Outlook group was advancing to Round Three, which will see each band perform four original songs. That event is tentatively scheduled for next week on Thursday night, April 20, though an approximate set time for the band has not yet been announced.
Bad Influence is comprised of lead vocalist Syhra Ellis, guitarist Josh Rude, bassist Bailey Parr-Kennedy, and drummer Scot Wallace.
