PREECEVILLE - The Town of Preeceville Economic Development and Tourism committee outlined the past and new projects that the Town would like to implement to help grow the area.

Projects that were implemented last year featured the kickoff of Main Street markets that saw vendors showcasing their products in the Town of Preeceville parking lot adjacent to the highway. The weekly sales also featured local organizations fundraising through a barbecue. The Centennial Park in the downtown core was completely revitalized and a new boat launch was put in at Annie Laurie Lake on the North side of Preeceville.

This year’s goals are: to install a play structure at Annie Laurie Lake, install a nine-hole and eco-friendly green golf course, fixing up the old Mackenzie mini-golf course park to a memorial park, put up and display war veteran banners that acknowledge all the veterans in the area, hosting canoe and kayaking lessons, and look at the possibility of revamping the indoor swimming pool.

“The newly developed EDC committee’s 17-plus members are dedicated to developing and encouraging individuals to want to live here,” said Florian Balawyder committee representative. “The whole purpose is to revitalize things we already have in town. It is a different way of thinking, instead of building new we want to fix and improve what we have while being cost efficient. Enhancing what we have in our own backyard is an creative approach to betterment of our community,” concluded Balawyder.
