Mrs. Margaret Rudnitski, formerly of Yorkton and the Buchanan district entered eternal rest on March 30, 2013 at the Royal Alex Hospital in Edmonton surrounded by her family. She was 96 years of age. Margaret was born on September 26, 1916 - daughter of Tom and Theodosia (Tulik) Serhan. She grew up on the family farm in the Buchanan district and attended Monastyr school. On October 23, 1934 Margaret married Tom Rudnitski and they farmed in the Buchanan district - there they remained until 1978 when they retired and moved to Yorkton. Margaret loved their new home but missed the farm yard - so not long after moving in - their huge back yard had a garden, flowers, trees - everything she loved - It was also a great home for the birds, butterflies and neighbours' cats. Margaret enjoyed keeping busy - she loved to sew, cook, bake, garden, and especially liked to re-arrange things whether it was in the flower beds or furniture in the house - Dad never knew where things were. In 2002 Margaret moved into Fairview Arms where she resided for 10 years. In 2012 Margaret and Jim agreed to move to Edmonton to be closer to the rest of the family - it was the best year we had - seeing her every day instead of 2 or 3 times a year. It was a little hard for Margaret at times being so far from home - she missed her friends. Always mentioned she would like to go home. Well Margaret - today we brought you home. We will miss you. Margaret leaves to cherish her memory her children - James, Ron & Shirley, Bill & Gloria, Carol & Alvin all from Edmonton. Grandchildren - Rhonda of Calgary, Sean & Jenn of Trail, B.C., Dawn & Kevin of Calgary, Jason & Nicole of Edmonton, also four great-grandchildren - Ashley and Cole of Calgary and Nathan and Noah of Trail, B.C. Margaret was predeceased by her husband Tom in 2004 and their daughter Janice in 1976. Margaret will be missed by her family and friends. Prayers were held on Friday, April 5, 2013 at St. Mary's Ukrainian Catholic Church in Yorkton. The Holy Rosary led by the Ukrainian Catholic Women's League preceded the prayers. Requiem Divine Liturgy was celebrated on Saturday, April 6, 2013 at St. Mary's Ukrainian Catholic Church with Rev. Father Ray Lukie, C.Ss.R. as the Celebrant. The responses were led by Ed Pindus & parish choir members. The cross bearer was Francis Tulik and the epistle reader was Shirley Rudnitski. An honour guard was formed by members of UCWLC. The interment followed in the Yorkton City Cemetery with Jason Galenza, Nesthyr Rudnitski, Harvey Rudnitski, Russel Rudnitski, Dan Tulik and Jim Tulik serving as the casket bearers. Words of appreciation and reflections of Margaret's life were shared by Rhonda Rudnitski at the luncheon. Memorials in memory of Margaret can be made to St. Mary's Church Building Fund.
