Annie Agnes Yurkiw passed away peacefully at the Norquay Health Centre on February 1, 2013 at the age of 94 years. Annie was born on March 10, 1918, on the family farm in the Hyas district to Nick and Katherine Fesyk. As a young girl she attended the Westerlund School while helping on the family farm. On March 16, 1941, she was united in marriage to Lawrence Yurkiw in Norquay. Annie was a fun-loving and caring homemaker. She and her husband Lawrence moved to Sheridan, MB for a short time, approximately a year and a half before once again returning to Norquay. In her later years, Annie ventured out into the work force and began working as a kitchen assistant at the Norquay Hospital until her retirement. She enjoyed camping and fishing, quilting bees, dancing and the fun and companionship through card games. Annie shared her husband's faith and became active in the church administration where she acted as Secretary at St. Peter and Paul Ukrainian Orthodox Church. Annie thoroughly enjoyed social gatherings with her many friends and especially enjoyed the times she had with her family at holidays and family gatherings. Annie will be dearly missed by all. She was predeceased by her parents: Nick and Katherine; her husband Lawrence; her four brothers: George, John, Bill and Mike; her five sisters: Neta, Helen, Mary, Sophia and a sister in infancy. Annie will be lovingly remembered by her two sons, Zane (Irene) Yurkiw of Yorkton, SK and Kelly (Rhonda) Yurkiw of Mundare, AB; her five grandchildren and four great grandchildren. The Prayer Service was held on Wednesday, February 6, 2013, at 7:00 p.m. The Funeral Service was held on Thursday, February 7, 2013, at 10:00 a.m. both from the Chapel of Leson's Funeral Home, Canora with Rev.
