YORKTON – David Chan was declared the winner for the Yorkton constituency in the 2024 Provincial Election held Oct. 28.
Â鶹´«Ã½ was on location at Chan's campaign office to hear from the successful Sask Party candidate on his win.
"I feel very honoured. Humbled. Grateful — grateful to all the constituents here in Yorkton who put me in this position," said Chan when asked how he felt.
In his speech to supporters, Chan said he was eager to represent everyone in the constituency.
"That's what this role is. We run for a party but we govern for all of the constituents. I'm here to serve this constituency and that means everyone regardless of how they voted," said Chan.
Chan reiterated his gratefulness and support and said he was excited about the vision of the Sask Party.
"I think we have the right vision to keep the economy strong — keep moving towards that bright future and to work on the things that we need to work on," said Chan.
On the list of those things, Chan said key infrastructure is a top priority.
"Infrastructure — key infrastructure is high — top of the priority list. The hospital. Getting doctors here. Making sure everyone has that access to a family doctor. Grain Millers road is still key to attracting investment," said Chan.
"There's a lot of priorities but I'm eager to get to work," said Chan.
On the first preliminary count of votes, Chan received 3361 votes compared to the NDP's 2128, the Sask United Party's 803, the Green Party's 131 and the Buffalo Party's 40.
