YORKTON – The Yorkton Terriers hosted the Weyburn Red Wings Oct. 21st at Westland Arena losing 5–4 to the visiting team.
The home town team were first to put themselves on the score board with Terrier Harrison Aldridge placing an unassisted goal past the Red Wing net minder at 7:40 of the first period. A mere 17 seconds later, Red Wing Max Monette answered the call making it a 1–1 game to start the second period.
Terrier Clay Sleeva wasted no time in the second, scoring another for the team at 2:06, assisted by Lohgan Nimmo and Riley Cormier. The Red Wings followed up with two more successive shots coming by way of Max Henderson at 7:34 and Jaxson Ruthven at 8:26. Aiden Knutson evened out the score for the Terriers at 14:40, ending the action for the second period.
Knutson was first to score in the third, capitalizing on a power play effort at 5:58, assisted by Anothony Domina and Anthony Macintosh. The Terriers held the lead for the better part of the third period, but the Red Wings' Nicholas Kovacs put one past the net minder at 12:05 and another successful goal from Red Wing Tyler Teasdale at 12:52 saw the Terriers fall to the Red Wings.
Blake Sittler was in net for the Terriers, taking on 31 shots and saving 26.
Dazza Mitchell was in net for the win, blocking 37 shots.
The Terriers are currently sitting in last place in the Viterra Division with 11 games played and 8 points, holding a record of three wins, six losses, one over time loss and one shootout loss.
The team will face the Melfort Mustangs in back-to-back matches this coming weekend, visiting the team Oct. 27 and hosting Oct. 28.
