YORKTON – The Yorkton Snoriders held an open house and swap meet Nov. 16 at the Art Bilous Centre.
The open house featured memberships, 50/50 tickets, silent auction items and 20 vendors selling snowmobile parts, equipment and accessories.
"It's a fundraiser for the Yorkton Snoriders. This is how we help with selling memberships and raising money for the club," said Tyler Kindiak, Yorkton Snoriders President.
Regarding membership, Kindiak noted a slow start but remained optimistic that Saturday's freshly fallen snow would attract more members to the club. Memberships are available for $25 per family, helping cover costs for wood, fuel and trail groomer maintenance.
"We're always looking for new members. We have a nice big clubhouse and shop and we like to fill it every month with our meetings. We need new members to help continue what we do here at the Yorkton Snoriders," said Kindiak.
Kindiak said the club has had between 50 and 100 members each year and urged others to join.
"Come on down and support the Yorkton Snoriders. Last year we had low snow, so the funding from the Saskatchewan Snowmobile Association was down, as it was everywhere else in Sask," said Kindiak.
"All your memberships support the club so we can continue giving everyone a great trail to ride on," said Kindiak, noting the club’s maintenance of upwards of 500 kms of groomed snowmobile trails.
Kindiak expressed satisfaction with the snowfall during the event.
"Hopefully it keeps on snowing and doesn't stop for a while."
