Arthur Armond "Art" Mainil October 13, 1933 - November 5, 2011 Art lost his battle with cancer on Saturday, November 5, 2011 at the age of 78 years. He was predeceased by his parents and one daughter Terry. Art is survived by his wife Maureen of 48 years; three daughters, Kara Cubbon (Colin), Patricia, and Stephanie Sovdi (Shawn); and grandsons, Deagan Sovdi, Leland Sovdi; and granddaughter, Meadow Sovdi; a brother, Jerry Mainil and a sister, Valerie Dauphinais. Art was a devout Catholic who said a daily rosary. His road map in his life was the Ten Commandments. Any success or good fortune enjoyed in life he gave credit to the "Big Guy." God was his continuous inspiration. Anything that made sense and was the right thing to do, Art was interested and involved. It fit if it had free society, qualities where virtues of honesty, decency, and morals prevailed and ruled. Art had many little reminders such as "freedom isn't free" - you must be prepared to stand up for it every day - you must be prepared to die for it every day, otherwise it will be taken from you. Art fought the good fight - he kept the faith - he made a difference. Prayers were held on Wednesday, November 9, 2011 at 7:30 p.m. in the Chapel of Hall Funeral Services, Estevan. Funeral Mass was celebrated on Thursday, November 10, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. in St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, Estevan, by Rev. Peter Nijssen. Interment followed in Souris Valley Memorial Gardens, Estevan. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Hall Funeral Services, Estevan.
