It was beginning to look a lot like Christmas when the annual Preeceville Hospital Auxiliary鈥檚 Christmas auction was held at the Preeceville Club 60 on November 30.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 There were numerous items up for auction, including a vast assortment of goodies, homemade bread, lefsa, gift surprise bags, handmade pillows, blankets, trinkets, mittens, toques and Christmas crafts.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 聽Elaine Christopherson, president of the auxiliary, welcomed everyone in attendance.
鈥淚 would like to thank everyone for the support over the past many years, whether it be at our May tea, this auction or through donations and memorials,鈥 she said. 鈥淭here have been quite a few donations and memorial funds to be used for our hospital. This past year, our purchases included: a vein finder, a silicone mattress at the cost of $20,375, and wall suction regulators. We have also approved the purchase of two blood pressure temperature monitors with stands and alternating mattresses and we continue to offer bursaries to graduates from Preeceville and Sturgis. We bought flowers for Mother鈥檚 Day and Father鈥檚 Day and we planted flowers at the front of the hospital."
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Monica Dutchak, the health services manager, offered her appreciation to the bidders and auxiliary members. Mayor Garth Harris was the first auctioneer to kick off the program.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Auxiliary members helping at the auction were: Agnes Murrin, Margaret Neitling, Hazel Arnie, Grace Predy, Lila Duff, Karen Berezitzky, Sharon Buchinski, Darlene Medlang, Elaine Christopherson and Bonnie Paul. Kaeley Neitling volunteer to help the auxiliary members with the evening auction.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 "On behalf of the entire community, I would like to express a huge thank-you to the auxiliary members for all their hard work and dedication to fundraising for the hospital. The auxiliary is the grass roots organization of the fundraising community," said Harris.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 The auction concluded with lunch and refreshments.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 There were two auctioneers participating. Garth Harris started the program but Sharon Buchinski did the majority of the auctioning of items.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 The raffle winners were: Karen Zubko, $500 first prize; Joel Christopherson, grocery hamper; and Hazel Arnie, lap blanket.
Cheyenne Poruchnek won the door prize.
