When a full moon coincides with the moon鈥檚 closest approach to Earth it appears to be larger than usual. According to Wikipedia the term supermoon is not astronomical, but originated in modern astrology. Whatever the science, the Battlefords were blessed with clear skies to observe the phenomenon.
