Christine Ann Southernwood June 19, 1961 - July 22, 2011 Christine Southernwood, late of Estevan, SK, passed away suddenly from a massive stroke on Friday, July 22, 2011 at the age of 50 years. Christine will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Lee of Estevan; mother Margaret Sonmor of Rosetown, SK; brother Rick (Shannon) of Dalmeny, SK and their children, Anthony (fiance Candace), Scott and Mitchell; sister Marlene (Brent) Secord of Eston, SK and their children, Vanessa, Jeffery (Sarah), Jessica (Thomas Robbie) and their daughter Jaycee; brother Daniel (Donna) of Winnipeg, MB and their children, Andrew, Paige (Jon) Degner; mother-in-law Beryl Southernwood of Estevan and sister-in-law Carol (Moray) Wilson of Estevan. She was predeceased by her father Leif Sonmor and father-in-law Calvin Southernwood. Christine Ann Sonmor was born on June 19, 1961 to Leif and Margaret (Corrigan) Sonmor. Christine grew up in the Forgan, SK area, attending school in Forgan, Elrose and Swift Current. She moved to Estevan where she met and later married Lee Southernwood on July 30, 1994. She enjoyed gardening - especially her flowers, trap shooting, Nascar, Stephen King novels and her dogs! Christine had a tremendous love of animals from her early days on the farm where she spent most of her time in the horse pasture, to her home in Estevan and her two dogs LuLu and Logan - she loved them all. She had many friends and enjoyed spending time visiting and sharing with them. Christine was a breast cancer survivor - showing us all how to be courageous and selfless in the fight. A Celebration of Christine's Life was held on Friday, July 29, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. in St. Paul's United Church, Estevan, with Rev. Brenna Nickel officiating. Interment followed in Souris Valley Memorial Gardens, Estevan. Those so wishing may make donations to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Saskatchewan, Canadian Cancer Society or the SPCA in Christine's memory. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Hall Funeral Services, Estevan. Thank You We have been overwhelmed by the thoughtfulness, generosity and support of family, friends and the community since Christine's sudden passing. A special thank you to Dr. Christie and Emergency staff at St. Joseph's Hospital, the Medical/Pediatric Intensive Care Unit at the Regina General Hospital, Wynne Edwards - Chaplin of Regina General Hospital and Hall Funeral Services.
