Clarke, CWO Donald MMM, CD RC Sigs. H of C January 24, 1927 - October 22, 2011 Don passed away peacefully with Vera, his devoted wife of 61 years, by his side on Saturday, October 22, 2011 at the age of 84. Loving father of Scott (Teresa) and grandfather of Ian and Heather; brother to Kenneth (Kay) of Estevan, Saskatchewan; and predeceased by his siblings, James, Minerva, Dougal, Francis, Jack, and Vivian. A boy soldier in World War II, Don's military career spanned 34 years, including time with the Royal Canadian Signal Corps and UN peacekeeping missions, finishing as Military Secretary to the Minister of National Defence. His final civilian appointment was Assistant Deputy Sergeant-at-Arms of the House of Commons. Don's smile, courtesy and good humour will be missed by all who knew him. The family thanks all of our friends for the visits and emotional support over the past few weeks. Sincere thanks and gratitude to the staff at The Ottawa Hospital Civic Campus Neurology Unit and the General Campus Oncology Unit for the exceptional skill and compassion they demonstrated in caring for Don. A memorial service was held in Ottawa at the Church of the Resurrection, 3191 Riverside Drive, at 1:30 on Monday, October 31, 2011.
