From Aberdeen to Zenon Park, 107 Saskatchewan communities will share a total of $3,257,109 in funding, with the Community Initiatives Fund (CIF) today announcing approval of 245 grants that will support a wide variety of projects throughout the province.

Projects range from literacy programs to after school activities, cultural festivals and community celebrations, parenting programs, community hall renovations, physical activity initiatives, volunteer programs, youth mentoring and much more, all in support of enhanced quality of life for Saskatchewan residents.

Through its Community Grant Program, the CIF approved 164 grants totaling $2,207,654 in support of projects tACant approvals through the Community Places and Spaces Program total $1,049,455 with 81 grants to help improve multi-purpose community facilities such as halls, recreation facilities, and playgrounds.

鈥淭he CIF plays an important role in our growing province through its support of a wide range of community projects,鈥 Minister of Parks, Culture and Sport Mark Docherty said. 鈥淭hese funds support initiatives that enrich the lives of Saskatchewan citizens鈥攚hether they are newcomers or long-time residents.鈥

The CIF is a Special Purpose Fund created through The Saskatchewan Gaming Corporation Act and governed by a volunteer board appointed through the Ministry of Parks, Culture and Sport.
