While playing in this band, Simpson also taught guitar lessons in Port Dover, Ontario. This is where he met Canadian singer songwriter, Fred Eaglesmith. Simpson then spent he next decade travelling the world with Eaglesmith as a full-time touring sideman playing guitar, banjo and keys. He traveled around the world playing hundred of diverse venues such as The Bluebird Cafe, the Delbert McClinton Blues Cruise and even appeared on The David Letterman Show.

His songs reflect that he has become a dedicated singer songwriter.
