Donald Matthew Knight February 3, 1922 - August 28, 2011 Don Knight (Poppy), late of Estevan, Sask. passed away in Regina, Sask. on Sunday, August 28, 2011 at the age of 89 years. Don will be lovingly remembered by his children, Bill (Tessa) Knight of Ottawa, Ont., Berva (Daryl) Kolke of Estevan, Eileen (Warren) Fossum of Frontier, Sask. and Donna (Al) Knight-Waters of Saskatoon, Sask.; grandchildren, Andrea Knight (Rob), Donald (Jennie) Knight, Matt (DeeDee) Hebb, Ben (Beth) Hebb, Nick Hebb, Jeff Kolke, Pam (D'Arcy) Gunnlaugson, Michelle (Michael) Lee, Bryce (Jenn) Fossum, Drew Fossum (Tiffany), Brittany (Trent) Wagner, Dayton Fossum, Damian Knight-Waters (Kristen) and Shane Knight-Waters; 13 great grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Shirley Knight, Isobel Pratt, Florence Newton and Verna Newton; numerous nieces and nephews and second wife Florence Knight and Family of St. Catharines, Ont. He was predeceased by his parents, William and Daisy Knight; wife, Gladys Knight (Newton); brothers, Jim (Lil) Knight and Ken Knight; five brothers-in-law and one sister-in-law. Don was a lifetime resident and long-time businessman in Estevan, being the proprietor of Wellock's Meat Market. He also served as Estevan's Chief of Police. He was proud to be a WWII veteran and was a lifetime member of the Royal Canadian Legion, in which he served in several capacities. Visitation was held on Wednesday, August 31, 2011 from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Hall Funeral Services, Estevan. A funeral service for Don was held on Thursday, September 1, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. in St. Paul's United Church, Estevan, with Rev. Brenna Nickel officiating. Interment followed in Souris Valley Memorial Gardens, Estevan. Those so wishing may make donations to the Legion Sports Youth Athletics Program, the New Estevan Regional Nursing Home or SMILE Services Inc., Estevan in Don's memory. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Hall Funeral Services, Estevan. Thank You The family of Don Knight would like to express our heartfelt thanks to our friends and relatives for all the cards, flowers, food, donations, telephone calls, prayers and support given us. Thanks to Rev. Brenna Nickel for a lovely service, the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #60 for their part in the service and lunch. Thanks to the piper, Braiden Senchuk, who piped us out of the funeral service. Thanks to Dustin Hall and Hall Funeral Services. A special thank you to Eunice and staff at Hill View Manor who provided Dad with a lovely home atmosphere and super care.
