Eileen Leona Langedahl Eileen Leona Langedahl, late of Weyburn, Sask. passed away Thursday, September 8, 2011, at the age of 86 years. Eileen was predeceased by her husband, Edwin; her parents, Albert and Marie Severson; her brothers, Harry and Earl; sister-in-law Rene; sister Marjorie and brother-in-law, Clarence Raaum; two grandchildren, Penny Lee and Clinton Langedahl. Eileen was born on the Severson homestead south of Oungre on August 27, 1925. Eileen studied at Regina Normal School in 1943. She first taught at Hagen School near Outram. On December 18, 1944, she married Edwin Leon Langedahl at Zion Lutheran Church in Weyburn. Sadly, Edwin died of Hypertensive heart disease on March 2, 1951, leaving Eileen a young widow with 4 small children. Moving into Estevan, Eileen taught at Schell School along Hwy. 47 then cooked at the "IT" cafe with sister Meda. In 1955, the family moved to Lightning Creek near Redvers where she taught in a one-room school. Her career in Alameda continued to Coalfields where Eileen was a principal for 3 years. In 1967, she returned to Estevan and taught at Valleyview, Pleasantdale and Hillcrest schools before retiring in 1982. Eileen's life was richly blessed with family and friends. After 29 years 4 months of teaching, she spent many happy hours and visits with her growing family. She spent a year with first granddaughter Shelly in Melfort, before managing the kitchen at Oungre Memorial Communiplex for 8 years, retiring to Weyburn in 1990. Eileen served as president of ELW at Trinity Lutheran Church in Estevan and Zion Lutheran Church in Weyburn. She enjoyed all the activities and fellowships. She was an avid quilter - beginning with two for her hope chest when she was 16. She enjoyed watching her family grow, church activities, singing in the Seniors' choir, and playing lots of cards: Bridge, Whist and Canasta. Eileen is survived by her four children: Larry of Edmonton, Alta.; Carol (Bud) Buchanan of Stavely, Alta.; Lyle (Vanda) of Edmonton, AB; and Louise Kozlowski of Port Alice, B.C.; 9 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren; sisters: Meda Foster of Estevan, Sask., Florence (Richard) Cresswell of Vernon, B.C.; Betty (Lavern) Larsen of Weyburn, Sask.; and many nieces and nephews. A memorial service for Eileen was held on Monday, September 12, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. from RD Family Funeral Chapel, Weyburn, Sask., with Pastor Cicely McDougall, officiating. Interment followed at Estevan City Cemetery, Estevan, Sask. For family and friends so wishing donations in memory of Eileen may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Saskatchewan, Canadian Cancer Society, or follow Eileen's example and spend an hour or two helping a friend in need.
