Chelsey Mounts had never even heard of Hillberg and Berk.

It was only after she moved from Edmonton to Regina, that she discovered the company which she is now thrilled to represent.

Hillberg and Berk was founded by Saskatchewan entrepreneur and mother of 3: Rachel Mielke. After successfully pitching her idea for a Regina-based jewelry company on TV's 'Dragon's Den;' Mielke would not only go on to create jewelry worn at the Oscars. She would also design a piece that would be worn on several occasions by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

Mounts was understandably impressed by the company's unique history.

But, she was even more intrigued by Hillberg and Berk's 'Mission Statement'.

“When I began looking into the company, I was struck by the huge impact that Hilllberg and Berk is having on the lives of women across Canada. Rachel Mielke said that her goal in starting Hillberg and Berk, was to 'Empower women – one sparkle at a time'. The company does that by investing in charities and fund-raising events that serve to empower women in a number of way.”

Mounts explains that the company markets its product in a number of ways.

“Hillberg and Berk does sell its jewelry on-line. But, we do have stores in Regina, Saskatoon, Edmonton – and a new store set to open in Calgary this fall. We also have 100 wholesale accounts across Canada. These are stores or boutiques that carry Hillberg and Berk jewelry. We also offer our wholesale accounts the opportunity to host a 'Trunk Show' if they wish. A 'Trunk Show' is an event that is hosted by the store. We bring out pieces from our 'Sparkle' and our 'Annual' Collection and 'Limited Edition and One of a Kind' pieces, and offer them for sale at these events.”

Mounts has represented Hillberg and Berk at several of these Trunk Shows. She admits that it is not always possible to predict how successful a show will be.

“With a Trunk Show – you just never know. There are so many things that can happen, which will determine the number of people coming out for the show.”

Consequently, Mounts was very happy with the tremendous response that she saw at the Trunk Party hosted by Timeless Trends in Kipling on Thursday September 28th.

“This is my first time in Kipling,” Mounts notes. “Everybody has been so friendly! A large number of people have come out to browse and find out what a 'Trunk Sale' is all about. And, several people have taken advantage of the opportunity to purchase some unique jewelry.”

Kelly Fonagy from Timeless Trends, notes that the past 18 months has been both challenging and exciting period of transition for the store.

“We've spent the past year and a half re-inventing ourselves. Through it all, we have done what we've always done – we've listened to what our customers have told us that they want. When we bring something in, we do it with our customers in mind. As a matter of fact, there are times when we decide to bring a particular item in, specifically for a particular customer that we can actually 'picture' wearing that item!”

Fonagy says that Hillberg and Berk has been a 'good fit' in their store.

“I have heard nothing but positive feedback about Hillberg and Berk in general – and the Trunk Show in particular. Today has been a great success for us. And. We are honored to have Hillberg and Berk come out to Timeless Trends.”

Mounts points out that this successful event offers proof that Hillberg and Berk can have a place even in a smaller community.

“I've been involved in Trunk Sales in a variety of different communities. But, no matter where the show takes place – the quality of Hillberg and Berk jewelry speaks for itself. What's happened here today proves that a show like this can be a success, even in a smaller community.”

“I'm looking forward to coming back!”
