A group photo of the graduates, complete with all of the names of graduing students, is printed on A6 of this paper.

The Assiniboia Composite High School graduation ceremony took place on June 30 at the high school gym.聽

The class selected the theme: 鈥淒on鈥檛 tell us the sky is the limit, when there are footprints on the moon.鈥澛

Each graduate accompanied by their parents entered the gym decorated with dove grey balloons and silver stars hanging from the ceiling. The gym was packed from end to end with relatives, friends and community members who came to support the young people as they successfully completed their education.

Carter Johnson and Kaitlin Feeley were the emcees for the event. After the singing of 鈥淥 Canada鈥, principal Brent Chadwick started the ceremony with the presentation of the ACHS Wall of Fame to this year鈥檚 inductee, Chief Justice Robert G. Richards who graduated from ACHS back in 1971.聽

As part of his acceptance speech, Richards offered some advice to the grads. 鈥淒on鈥檛 ever think that being from a small town or small high school is limiting.鈥 He advised them to seize their dreams, work hard and follow their talent.聽

He also counseled them to have the courage to take advantage of the opportunities that life presents.聽

The program continued with 35 scholarship presentations to worthy students and a slide show featuring a photo array of each graduate with their voice-over about their dreams, goals, school life and interests. This year鈥檚 valedictorian, Kohlton Booth, spoke about the class鈥檚 bonding as well as their dreams and achievements. Shaye Seebach gave the thank you to the audience on behalf of the graduating class. To complete the evening, principal Chadwick and vice principal Lona Froshaug presented the diplomas to the students before they exited the gym.聽

The group mingled for a class photo and final goodbyes to the school friends, staff and community. See the Assiniboia Times next week for scholarship awards that were presented during the 2017 graduation ceremony.聽
