Herman Joseph Fleck Nov. 16, 1923 - April 24, 2011 It is with grieving hearts we announce the passing of our most cherished Husband, Dad and Grandpa. He passed away at the Lampman Community Health Centre on Easter Sunday at the age of 87 well lived years. Left to cherish his memories are his wife Ann of 67 years; 8 children, Shirley (Ron) Carson, Elaine (Edward) Mayer, Larry (Aldyth) Fleck, Linda (Don) Johner, (deceased - Ernie Taillon), Janet (Dennis) Veroba, Allan (Peggy) Fleck, Marlene (Don) Raynard, Eva Fleck; 30 grandchildren and 46 great grandchildren; also 2 brothers, 3 sisters, in-laws and numerous nephews and nieces. Herman was the first born of Christian and Josephine Fleck. He grew up around the Steelman area and attended Roseleigh School. Dad and his four brothers played ball on the Steelman Wolves, his position being first base. Baseball remained a big part of his life and in later years he coached the younger generation. His true passion was the accordion. His Father started teaching him when he was ten. At the age of fourteen, he played for his first dance, earning 50 cents. Playing for dances continued on into his later years. Dad played his accordion often, until his stroke in 2000. In 1943 he married Ann Lischka and started the beginnings of our family. Dad worked at the M&S Mines before he started farming. In 1974 Dad and Mom moved to Lampman. Our Dad set a strong example by taking us to church, not sending us. It was a rare occasion that we ever missed mass. His faith remained strong even though he had health problems the last 11 years of his life. What a wonderful day to leave this life on Earth than on Easter Sunday. The Kenosee Lake cabin, where we all spent so much time together was the highlight of the summer. Dad was well known for his delicious homemade sausage which many people enjoyed. He, his brother Clarence, and a few other buddies travelled to many special events to serve their famous barbecue roast. This took up a lot of his summer weekends, but they very seldom turned anyone down. Fishing trips to the north were always a great enjoyment for him. Dad and Mom spent many years travelling. They loved playing cards with family and friends. Going to the casino was always looked forward to. After Dad retired, he spent many hours doing carpentry. We will forever cherish the things he made for us. Christmas, birthdays and reunions were always a great enjoyment. Nothing gave Dad a better feeling than having the whole family together (100+). In the early spring of 2010, Dad and Mom became residents of the Lampman Health Centre. They still have their home where we continue to have many family gatherings. Dad's ever growing family is a true legacy to him. His family was his pride and joy. He was always interested in everyone's activities. He so looked forward to family visits from the oldest to the youngest. Nothing compares to the special feelings you have as a child, grandchild or great grandchild than having your parents or grandparents attending the many sports events, graduations, weddings, baptisms and other events in your life. Our Dad did this. His never ending smile and his quiet manner will be dearly missed but not forgotten. Our family circle has been broken; A link gone fro our chain; But though we have parted for awhile; We know we will meet again. A funeral mass was celebrated April 29, 2011 at Our Lady of Seven Sorrows Roman Catholic Church in Lampman, Sask., with Father Nijssen officiating. Thank You The family wishes to send out their heartfelt gratitude to everyone who supported us with much love and kindness during this difficult time. Thank you to Father Nijssen and Sister Jacqueline for helping with Dad's final farewell. To everyone who sent cards, mass cards, floral tributes, donations to the Health Centre, food, phone calls, e-mails and comforting words, it was appreciated more than we can convey. Thank you to Dustin and staff at Hall's Funeral Home for accommodating our every wish. To the staff at Lampman Health Centre, thank you for the care and kindness you gave to Dad. It did not go unnoticed and was appreciated. Dad was a inspiration to all who knew him and loved him.
