Kenneth Albert Lang December 31, 1934 - November 9, 2011 Kenneth Lang passed away peacefully on Nov 9, 2011 in Estevan, Sask. at the age of 76. He was predeceased by his wife Reta. He was admired with pride by all his children. He was a quiet, hard working, loving man and will be dearly missed. Ken was born in Yorkton, Sask., Dec 31, 1934 on his Grandparents' land. He spent many summers working on that land to help his Uncles. As a child, Ken moved several times, he even lived in Estevan when his father had opened a butcher shop on 4th Street. He attended Scott Collegiate in Regina where he completed Grade 12. He then went on to be a land surveyor travelling all over Saskatchewan. He met Reta during this time in Nipawin. They married August 10, 1958 and proceeded to Estevan where they raised 4 children. Ken worked for TerHart Surveys until the company was sold then continued working at Midwest Surveys until his heart problems arose. He was also a draftsman providing drawings for residential and business for many years. Ken was very talented with his hands; he built a fishing boat but then realized his passion was sailing so he built a sail boat too. The family spent many happy weekends sailing. He became a member of the Estevan Symphony playing the trumpet and the trombone. He joined the fastball league as a pitcher, joined Mr. Naka's Judo class, and then went on to curl with his lifetime friends John Stevenson, Terry Marcotte and Barrie Gill. A Memorial Service for Ken was held on Monday, November 14, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. in St. Paul's United Church, Estevan, with Rev. Brenna Nickel officiating. He was laid to rest next to his wife at Souris Valley Memorial Gardens, Estevan. He will be lovingly missed by his children, Gwen (Brad) Thompson, Richard (Debbie) Lang, Glen (Connie) Lang, Donna Fleck (Harvey King); Grandchildren, Blair (Jen) Thompson, Chris (Kate) Thompson, Ryan Lang (Dana Gill), Rene (Will) Johnston, Aaron (Desiree) Lang, Kyla Lang, Chelsey (Matt) Wock, Rochelle Fleck; Great Grandchildren, Spencer, Bailey, Stacia, Carter, Avery, Kelly, Adelaide, Hannah and Lily; and special friend Maria Baerg. Ken received a heart transplant in 1992, which gave him 19 good years with us. We are grateful to the Kinsmen Foundation for their donation to start this process. Thank you to all the doctors and nurses at the Edmonton University Hospital for their support all these years. Special thanks to all who have supported us in our loss, we are grateful for your thoughtfulness. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Estevan Kinsmen or the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Saskatchewan. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Hall Funeral Services, Estevan.
