In Kipling, we have a huge variety of activities and opportunities for everyone that can easily eliminate sedentary behavior! Try out all the aquatic opportunities at the Kipling & District Swimming Pool, shoot some hoops at the basketball court in Bell Park, try your hand at tennis or pickleball courts in Bell Park, or simply play in the sand or on the play equipment in Bell Park! Beginning in July, check out our Children鈥檚 Summer Activities Program!

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Kipling & District Parks and Recreation has made one small change to this year鈥檚 Children鈥檚 Summer Activities Program. The annual Children鈥檚 Summer Activities Program begins Monday, July 3 with a great lineup of activities, Monday through Friday, from July 3-21 for children and youth, ages 5-12 years. We are excited to announce that July 25, 26, 27 will feature a Mini-Sport Camp at a cost of $10/day for participants, or all 3 days for $25! There may be some age restrictions on certain sports, so check your child鈥檚 brochure (from school), or pick one up at Plainsview Credit Union. Our Mini Sport Camp includes Atomic Smashbal (volleyball adapted to ages 7-11, with a focus on learning to spike); Flag Football for ages 6-12; and Lacrosse for ages 6-12. All sports will be instructed by certified instructors provided by the Provincial Sport Organizations. Pre-registration is absolutely necessary, so get your forms into the Rec Office by July 19th! July 31 鈥 August 4 will be a Multicultural Week, with games and activities from around the world! August 8-25 will return to general programming for ages 5-12 years, with many exciting activities. Parents are reminded to fill out the registration and waiver forms, as well as to send a water bottle and hat with their child each day. Because our program also works in partnership with the Kipling Public Library, parents are reminded to ensure that their child has a library card to be able to take home books each Tuesday afternoon. The Children鈥檚 Summer Activities Program is supported by the Community Initiatives Fund, Canada Summer Jobs, Student Summer Works, Southeast 麻豆传媒ion Sport, Culture and Recreation District, Plainsview Credit Union, Osman & Company Law Office, and Trobert Law Firm.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Lane Swim times in June at the Kipling & District Swimming Pool are scheduled for 8:00-9:00 a.m. and 5:00-5:30 p.m. on weekdays, as well as 12:00-1:00 p.m. on Saturdays. Public Swimming in June is scheduled for 3:30-5:00 p.m. and 6:30-8:30 p.m. on weekdays, and 1:00-5:00 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays. Aquafit will run Tuesday through Friday each week from 5:30-6:30 p.m., as well as Mondays thru Thursdays at 12:00 p.m. (in June). Mondays from 5:30-6:30 p.m. will be reserved for Speed Swimming.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 There are still select spots available for Red Cross Swimming Lessons this summer. Swimming Lessons will be held in the following sessions: July 3-14; July 17-28; July 31-Aug. 11; Aug. 14-18 (2 lessons daily Monday-Thursday, one lesson on Friday). Please note that the one week session of swimming lessons is non-refundable, and near capacity. Parents are encouraged to call or stop by the Kipling & District Swimming Pool or the Rec Office to drop off their registration forms.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Summer Slam Volleyball Skills Camp is in its tenth consecutive season, August 8-10, 2017. The camp is a developmental camp for boys and girls, ages 11-14 years; as well as a high level experience for males and females 15 years and up. Athletes will have the opportunity to develop and/or refine all the technical skills of the game, learn new fitness and nutrition tips and participate in game play and strategy. Athletes are primarily grouped according to age, with both groups receiving 5 skills sessions, followed by a session of 鈥渨rap-up鈥 play on the final day of the camp. Instructors again for 2017 are Braden McLean and Bryan Fraser, both playing professionally in Europe in their 2016/17 seasons. Brochures are available through Kipling School, as well as at the Rec Office. Register early to avoid disappointment 鈥 session limits are 36 kids per session!
