Raymond Michael Fleck March 3, 1928 - December 12, 2011 It is with great sadness that the family of Raymond Fleck announces his passing at the age of 83 years. Raymond Michael Fleck was born March 3, 1928 to Christian and Josephine Fleck at the family homestead near Steelman. He had 4 brothers and 3 sisters. Raymond attended Roseleigh School. The family worked hard on the farm but always found time to enjoy their favourite pastime, baseball. All five brothers played for the Steelman Wolves and this team was noted for being one of the best teams in the area. Raymond married Jean Fornwald on October 23, 1951. They raised 3 sons and 4 daughters on the family farm. In 1992 Raymond and Jean retired from the farm and moved to Estevan. Son Kirby and wife Janine and family still reside on this 4th Generation Century farm established in 1900. Raymond loved being a farmer, especially at harvest time as he still ran the combine long after he retired, enjoying the sight of the grain pouring into the hopper. Raymond was very musical and played in a band with his brother Herman, entertaining many at the Big Red Barn dances held on the family farm. Dad's strong faith also had him singing in the church choir both at Maryland and Estevan. He also carried on the tradition of baseball coaching the Lampman Cubs, which his sons, nephews and now grandsons still play with. The love of his life was Jean and they were able to celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary this year in October. Raymond and Jean loved hosting all the family now numbering 54 over to visit and were extremely generous to all. Raymond, being very community orientated, was a councillor for the R.M. of Browning for over 20 years and was very active in the building of the Lampman Community Complex and Lampman Community Health Centre. It was at the Health Centre that Raymond lived his final two years. Raymond and his family were always thankful for the wonderful care he received while there. Raymond is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Jean; his children, Randy (Donna), Murray (Debbie), Colleen (Gerry Leslie), Sharon (Paul Elash), Kirby (Janine), Tamara (Rodney Veroba), Myra (Daryle Runge); 17 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren; Jason (Mandy) Drew, Dacey, Austin, Alicia; Jarrod (Leanne) McKenzie, Lucas; Jamie (Dana) Avery, Ryland, Carter, Bryden; Jordan (Jami) a new bundle to arrive in January; Garett, Nicole (Ryan Klatt); Wade (Darla) Cash; Reagan, Steven; Amanda (Dreu Volk) Kohen; Logan, Evan, Hailee; Connor, Ali; Leevi, Landon; sisters, Fran Slater, Gert (John) Fedyk, Idella (Barry) Sands; brother, Stanley (Lil), sister-in-law, Ann Fleck as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Christian and Josephine; brothers, Herman, Clarence (Anne), Lawrence (Loretta) and brother-in-law, Ray Slater. Public visitation was held on Wednesday, December 14, 2011 from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Hall Funeral Services, Estevan. Funeral Mass was celebrated on Friday, December 16, 2011 at 2:30 p.m. in St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, Estevan by Rev. Thomas Mutavanattu. A private family interment followed in Souris Valley Memorial Gardens, Estevan. Honourary pallbearers were all of Raymond's grandchildren. Donations can be made in Raymond's memory to Lampman Community Health Centre Trust, c/o R.M. Of Browning No. 34, Box 40, Lampman, Sask. S0C 1N0.
